We work together to continually develop and implement sustainable solutions. Through Green Thread, our environmental sustainability platform, we bring innovative and efficient solutions to life. We are passionately focused on reducing the environmental impact within our operations.

Here are just a few ways we work to make our campus more environmentally conscious:

Compostable Products

We offer biodegradable and compostable products through Catering, as well as through our Grab & Go Program in the Blazer.

Fryer Oil Recycling

Fryer Oil Recycling: We recycle 100% of our used cooking and fryer oil.

Local Purchasing

Did you know we source food from many local farmers, growers and distributors? The list changes throughout the year depending on seasonality and availability.

Meatless Mondays

Reducing meat consumption just one day a week can make room for healthier eating habits and also lighten the environmental footprint. To learn more about the benefits of reducing meat intake, visit the John Hopkins Meatless Mondays Project.

Hood Dining uses recycled copy paper. We recycle from all dining locations across campus and are committed to minimizing our environmental footprint. Look for signs in our locations for information on where to put your recyclables.

Reusable To-Go Program

Through our reusable to-go program in Coblentz, students can enjoy the convenience of taking food on the go, while keeping disposable boxes out of the landfill.

In an effort to reduce water and energy usage, our locations refrain from offering trays.
